Library regulations and conduct

All library users must observe the regulations and rules of conduct listed in this handbook. Any offenders who do not pay attention to these rules may be liable to disciplinary action.

Admissions

Admission to the library is conditional upon the presentation on a valid Azad University card.  These cards must be obtained from the Registrar's office located in the Ferdowsi building.

Visitors

Visitors are welcome to use the library but only when they are accompanied by a member of staff.

Loan of items

The loan of items will only become available to staff and students after they have obtained and presented their Azad University card and only after they have completed a registration form.

Silence

All staff and students should keep discussions outside of the library to maintain a quiet area within the library to enable staff and students to read and study in silence

Mobile phones

Mobile phones should be switched to silent mode when entering the library and any conversations on mobile phones should be taken out of the library.

Seating

Seating cannot be reserved therefore if a seat is unoccupied any student or member of staff has the right to use it.

Food and drink

Food of any kind is not allowed in the library and the only the only type of drink allowed in the library is water and this must be kept in a sealed container.

Personal belongings

Personal belongings should not be left unattended in the library and the library will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to personal belonging that have been left behind.

Copyright

Copyright law must be observed at all times and all staff and students should make themselves aware of copyright legislation.

Computers

Computers are to be used for catalogue searching and anything related to study or research. They should not be used for any other purposes. Furthermore, after use users should close down any programs that they have been using.

Lost items

Any user that loses an item from the physical collection must inform the library as soon as possible and the item/items must be paid for in full. A processing charge of £5 will also have to be paid. This charge is required to pay for the time taken to purchase and process a replacement item.

Damaged items

Items that are the property of the library must not be damaged or defaced and anyone found damaging any items will be liable to disciplinary action.

Recalls

Any loaned item can be recalled at anytime as deemed necessary by the Librarian. There are occasions when there may be a need for a loaned item to be recalled even if the item is still on loan with a user. Although this may not happen very often it is important to always check your e-mail and phone for library messages.

Special rules

The Librarian shall have the discretion to make special rules on library access and borrowing where appropriate to enable the library service to be managed and run effectively and efficiently.
