The University is based in Kingston upon Thames, a thriving riverside town on the borders of London and Surrey. It has four campuses, each with its own character and linked by a free intersite bus service. The University has an ambitious development plan. It focuses on promoting opportunity for a range of students of different backgrounds, enhancing student success, generating and transferring knowledge, working in partnership between higher education, further education colleges and the community, and renewing its estate developments and support structures. Kingston University has also made significant investments in modern equipment and facilities, and is committed to providing a cutting-edge study environment,

Many of the University’s degree programmes are vocational, offering students the chance to gain valuable work experience by undertaking a placement year. This opportunity not only provides students with practical hands-on experience, but also enables them to learn what the working world is really like, earn a salary and, most importantly, improve their employment prospects. Kingston University also fosters close links with business and industry to ensure their courses are up to date with the latest developments. Industry experts often assist in the design of their courses, which are regularly reviewed, and are invited as guest speakers at the University to share their expert knowledge with the students.

Kingston University has a total student population of 18,861, of which 2,636 are non-UK students. The University comprises 7 faculties, divided into 26 schools, and utilising over 2,060 members of staff. It also has an associate college network that comprises 8 accredited associate colleges. The University offers extensive study support, including specialist Learning Resources Centres (LRCs) on each campus offering access to a total of 426,000 books, 2,655 printed journals and 15,000 electronic journals, as well as study areas with clusters of networked PCs and a wireless network for laptop use.

Kingston University is also pioneering an online learning tool called Blackboard, which is designed to give students the flexibility to choose where and when to study as long as they have access to an internet-enabled computer. Blackboard provides access to course materials, such as lecture notes and presentations, and allows students to interact with staff and other students using online chatrooms and bulletin boards. For more information, visit: http://www.kingston.ac.uk/
