This programme is part of a new philosophy and structure in Education Management. Theory, practice and policy have to be intimately related. On that basis, the programme is shaped by the following features:

Programme Goals

  • Scientific and professional endeavour to enrich experienced senior managers’ vision and also young managers in higher education specifically directors and deputies of universities and their dependent faculties.
  • To strengthen the required powers to use the role of professional leadership and responsibilities in strategic programming, decision making and organizational changes.
  • Providing experimental theories in organizational development and strategies within the candidates’ specific responsibilities.
  • Providing an environment to exchange and deepen professional relationships and expanding relevant descriptive models with modern operational experiences.

Programme Details

This programme is part of a new philosophy and structure in educational management which is composed of theory, performance and strategy.  Therefore the general details of the program are as follows:

  • To give priority to transferring research and learning in higher education institutes
  • Encouraging the candidates to make strategic changes and structural reviews in their organizational environment
  • Comparative study of various international experiences in higher education
  • Stimulating discussion, knowledge transfer, exchange of ideas and case studies to their educational program

Course Details

  1. Each course will last eleven days.
  2. The course will be held twice within the Academic year 2010 on following dates:
    • Winter course from 14 Jan. to 24 Jan. 2010
    • Spring course from 10 June to 20 June 2010
    • Summer course from 29 July to 8 August 2010
  3. There are 25 places available on each course.
  4. Each course includes direct specialized teaching and workshops,
  5.  Teaching material will be relevant to the management specialty of the candidates within the following subjects:
    • Introduction to higher education systems in the United Kingdom
    • Strategic management in higher education
    • Marketing and support in higher education
    • Strategic changes and the difference between management and leadership in higher education
    • Physical and financial resource management in higher education
    • Educational and scientific- applied research management systems in higher education
    • New methods and technologies in education and learning
    • Globalization in higher education and inter-university co-operation models
    • New models in quality control and improvements in higher education
      • Note 2: The above course will be conducted in English by British Higher Education experts.
  6. Those who successfully finish the course will receive a certificate in Leadership in Higher Education.
  7. Visits and excursions will be arranged for the participants during the course.

Requirements and Registration

  1. This course is for directors and deputies of universities and dependent faculties.
  2. Proficiency in English language is required to be able to participate in discussions in class.
  3. The registration fee of £2850 for the course and accommodation has to be paid to the university bank account1, and the receipt has to be faxed to the Azad University in Oxford.  The fee includes: course fees, hotel costs, food costs, visits, excursions and transport to and from the airport.  Airfares are the participants’ personal responsibility.
