Accommodation Options available in Oxford Print E-mail

We will help you to find the type of accommodation best suited to your needs, whether you choose to live in University accommodation or with a local family. In all cases the university will take note of the cultural traditions of the students and their individual preferences. The main options are:

Host Family

Accommodation in a local family's home. These are inspected for cleanliness, comfort and hospitality. You will be given your own room and provided with bed linen and towels, and will have access to a washing machine for your laundry needs. Breakfast is included in the accommodation fee and you can arrange to prepare your own meals in the evenings and weekends should you wish. Many students prefer this option as it gives them the chance to experience at first hand, life in a typical English family. It is recommended that you request this as early as possible as demand for such accommodation is high. Prices generally range from around £85.00 to £100.00 per week.

University Halls of Residence

Fully-furnished, University managed shared houses, off-campus, students rent rooms and share a bathroom and a kitchen with other international students. This type of accommodation suits those who prefer to live with their classmates. Prices generally range from £80 to £110 per week.

You will usually be asked to pay a deposit for your accommodation, normally £200.00, plus a further month’s rent in advance. The deposit is refunded at the end of your stay, subject to any breakages or damage you may have caused.

Download Accommodation Application Form If you need us to help you with the accommodation you need to apply for the intended type of accommodation as you are applying for the courses of study. There is a separate form which should be completed and sent to us at the same time you are applying to study.
